No candidates registered since Friday

No new candidates for public office had filed as of noon Tuesday with municipal, county and state election authorities.

U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, who made his official re-election announcement at noon in Cheyenne, had not yet filed formally as of Tuesday afternoon.

The deadline for candidate filings for the Aug. 21 primary election is 5 p.m. this Friday, June 1.

Through last Friday, May 25, many municipal offices in Fremont County's smaller towns had no candidates. The most-competitive races so far have been for the Wyoming House District 54 seat being vacated by State Rep. Del McOmie of Lander, and the Fremont County Commission District 5 seat held by Doug Thompson, who has filed for re-election. Both seats have drawn several candidates.
