Two wildfires in state ignite concern in hot, dry weatherJun 5, 2012 - The Associated Press CHEYENNE -- A wildfire in the Medicine Bow National Forest west of Wheatland grew substantially overnight. Forest Service spokesman Aaron Voos says the Cow Camp Fire is estimated at about 500 acres now. On Monday, the fire was under 100 acres. The fire is burning in northeast Albany County about 20 miles west of Wheatland and about 5 miles southeast of Laramie Peak in an area mixed with ponderosa pine, brush and grass. Lightning is suspected to have started it on Sunday night. There is a church camp and other structures in the area. |
