Kristi Ragan, a Class 3-A all-state performer in volleyball, basketball and track for Lander Valley High School, has been added to the roster for this weekend's Wyoming - Montana All-Star Basketball Series.
Originally Wyoming's first alternate, Ragan joined the team Wednesday just in time to be at the squad's first practice Wednesday evening in Sheridan, according to Wyoming all-star head coach Frank McCarthy of Sheridan College.
Ragan replaces Laramie's, Ali Beckler who contacted McCarthy last weekend.
"She had a family emergency and can't make it," McCarthy said.
The girls roster is highlighted by Laramie's Kyleigh Hiser and Cheyenne Central's Christie Scheil. Hiser has signed to play next year at the University of Northern Colorado, while Scheil will compete in track and field at Montana State University.
"We met this morning (Wednesday) and had our first luncheon, and things are looking good," McCarthy said.
The girls team also includes Madison Forney (Rawlins), Mikayla Brower (Torrington), Regen Wilson (Laramie), Cheyenne Balster (Casper Natrona), Morgan Willie (Snake River), Stephanie Sessions (Sheridan) and Madison Browning (Casper Natrona).
The team will practice twice each day, and Friday's schedule includes a scrimmage against Gillette's AAU team, according to McCarthy.
Ragan plans to attend Monmouth (Illinois) College and will play basketball for the Fighting Scots. Ragan hopes to become a high school physical education teacher and coach.
Both boys and girls teams will play in the Montana-Wyoming All-Star Basketball Series Friday, June 8, in Sheridan, and Saturday, June 9, at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont.
