Rich don't need 'looking out for' by Legislature

Feb 14, 2012 - Phil Rossen Riverton

Editor:

Now that the Wyoming Legislature is starting up again and setting to work on the next state budget, I wish everyone would watch very closely when they start cutting money for programs.

I am a Republican for life on things like Second Amendment, right to life, free markets, etc., but I also have listened to the "we are the 99 percent" people around the U.S., and I can say that I do identify with them. For the life of me, I just don't get it when the Congress and Wyoming Legislature make their decisions with the angle of "looking out" for the richest people in the state or in the U.S. They don't need "looking out" for. They've got it made.

It's the rest of us who need looking out for. I do not for a second mean a "handout." But if there are going to be decisions made about funding for programs, then those always should be made with the "real people" in mind, Republicans and Democrats both.
