News of Riverton, Lander and Fremont County, Wyoming, from the Ranger's award winning journalists.
Newspaper's end-of-year edition 'hot'Jan 31, 2012 - Bob Funk, Riverton Editor: In 1958 I made my first subscription to The Ranger, and I believe the year-end edition of Dec. 30-Jan. 1was the best in 50 years. The editorial on the decisions made on national issues during 2011 and those you agreed with and elegantly disagreed with was excellent. Even The Answer Man column stated with a Wyoming question. The pictures told the story of 2011, even without reading the captions. The rodeo team picture of Payson Munns and Collin McLaughlin should have made the national news. Every section covered 2011 so well done ...simply exceptional. I did hesitate in sending this letter, for I believe the editor is a modest man and would perhaps not print this letter. But as Randy Tucker said in his article on modem-day education and being "hot," The Ranger's year-end issues was "hot." If anyone was out of town over the New Year be sure and get a copy of this Ranger. They may still have a few. You will enjoy it, I promise. Congratulations to you Mr. Editor, and your staff on one outstanding issue. Mr. Editor, you were "hot" on this issue. If you are the "top gun," "top dog," in police work, the chief, the superintendent in education, and editor of the newspaper the blame or fame ends up on your desk. |
