Tucker, Ashdown first to file for Riverton school board vacancy

By noon Tuesday, two men had filed letters of interest to be appointed to the Fremont County School District 25 Board of Education, replacing Bill Russell, who is moving from the community.

Randy Tucker and Greg Ashdown have filed for the Riverton school board vacancy.

Deadline for filing letters of interest is 4 p.m. this Thursday, June 21.

Russell's resignation, which was submitted at the June 5 school board meeting, is effective June 30.

The person appointed to the board will serve out Russell's term from July 1 to Dec. 1.

The board expects to make that appointment at the June 26 business meeting, after interviewing the candidates.

Russell's second four-year term expires at the end of this November. The newly appointed member, along with other applicants will have the opportunity to seek a full four-year elected term on the school board beginning in December.

Other incumbent members who terms expire at the end of November are Carl Manning, Glenn Ogg, and Dean Peranteaux All are four-year terms, with filing to open in August
