Riders and ropers to contend at state high school rodeo

Five Fremont County rodeo athletes enter the state finals on Thursday in Douglas in the top four in their respective events.

Shoshoni High School cousins Coralee Spratt and K.L. Spratt will battle each other for the girls all-around title.

Coralee Spratt is first in breakaway roping after scoring 127.5 points in the regular season. K.L. Spratt is third with 98 points.

In goat tying, K.L. Spratt stands first after chalking up 143 points. Coralee Spratt is third (136.5).

Pavillion resident Teal Stoll heads into Douglas second in barrel racing (96.5) and pole bending with 124 points.

The team roping combination of Coley Nicholls of Riverton and Garrett Greive of Baggs are first scoring 127 points.

Wind River's Drew Antone sits second in bull riding, putting up 65 points. Tyler Orchard from Baggs stands first at 71 points, and Buffalo's Chantz Cates is third with 64 points.

The state rodeo will have two performances each day.

The finals start at 11 a.m. Sunday. The top four rodeo athletes from each event will make the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The NHSFR is in Rock Springs next month.

Saddle broncs -- 1. Mason Rockafellow, Clearmont, 109.5; 2. J.W. Meiers, Mills, 107; 3. Wiley King, Casper, 88.5; 4. Blaze Cress, Hillsdale, 84.

Tie-down roping -- 1. J.W. Thrush, Gillette, 132; 2. Garrett Grieve, Baggs, 103; 3. Trevor Scantling, Buffalo, 90; 4. Bailey Young, Gillette, 87.

Breakaway roping -- 1. Coralee Spratt, Shoshoni, 127.5; 2. Deena Norell, Meeker, Colo, 106; 3. K.L. Spratt, Lysite, 98; 4. Justene Hirsig, Cheyenne, 92.5.

Steer wrestling -- 1. Austin Eller, Glendo, 153; 2. Drew Antone, Kinnear, 142; 3. Kane Butcher, Jelm, 100; 4. Dalton Beasley, 90.

Goat tying -- 1. K.L. Spratt, Shoshoni, 143; 2. Jaime Thompson, Whitney, Neb., 142; 3. Coralee Spratt, Shoshoni, 136.5; 4. Emily Faber, Rozett, 129.

Barrel racing -- 1. Chandler Markel, Scottsbluff, Neb., 115; 2. Teal Stoll, Pavillion, 96.5; 3. Cassidy Kruse, Gillette, 92; 4. Rheanna Gail, Farson, 90.

Pole bending -- 1. Breanna Reimler, Buffalo, 142; 2. Teal Stoll, Pavillion, 124; 3. Amber Robinson, Pinedale, 112; 4. Chloe Ashenhurst, Wheatland, 111.

Team roping -- 1. Coley Nicholls, Riverton/Garrett Grieve, Baggs, 127; 2. Jayden Johnson, Casper/Klay Ready, Dixon, 80.

Bull riding -- 1. Tyler Orchard, Baggs, 71; 2. Drew Antone, WInd River, 65; 3. Chantz Cates, Buffalo, 64; 4. Hawk Whitt, Thermopolis, 55.5.
