C.D. 'Duane' White

C.D. "Duane" White, 73, of Riverton, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. The Rev. Father John Gaffney officiates. Military committal rites follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Carrol Duane White was born April 1, 1939, in Butte, Mont., the son of Carl M. and Bertie V. (Hammond) White. He grew up on the family ranch in Dillon, Mont., until his father died, after which he lived in Powell and Cody and graduated from Powell High School in 1957.
Following high school graduation, Mr. White served with the U.S. Navy from June 4, 1957, to June 5, 1961. He was a sounding device operator. He was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer Third Class. He was transferred from active duty into the Naval Reserves with the Ninth Naval District. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Antarctic Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Mr. White had been a volunteer with the Shoshoni Fire Department and served as an EMT from 1976 to 1983. aOn Dec. 6, 1975, he married Rita R.A. Rothschiller in Cody.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. White worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction, building dams, roads and mines across Wyoming. He had lived primarily in Riverton and Fremont County since 1964.
His family said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. White was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a past member of the Heavy Operators Construction Union in Casper.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; sons Carl F. White, Brian C. White and his wife Tanya M., and Elliott J. Miska and his wife Barbara; a daughter, Brenda J. Miska and her spouse Lynn M. Landseidel of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren, Jorden White, Sienna White, Christopher White, Robert E. Miska and his wife Shelly, Michelle Kara Landseidel, and Ryan Michael Landseidel; great-grandchildren Hailey Rose Miska and Kade Robert Miska; a sister, Margo Cornett and her husband Tom of Cody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Carla.
