U.S. Energy wins openerJul 6, 2012 - From staff reports The Riverton U.S. Energy girls fastpitch team edged the Rock Springs Storm 6-4 on Friday morning in pool play at the state tournament in Rock Springs. 'I'm really excited on how we played against Rock Springs," Riverton U.S. Energy manager Mark Stone said. U.S. Energy is playing the tournament in the Under-18 division and the Storm are in the U16 division. State tournament officials have combined the U18 and U16 divisions to play pool play together on the first day.
Riverton 6, Rock Springs Storm 4 Kiyana Martin pitched all seven innings for Riverton in the two-run victory. Martin had four strikeouts and one walk. Rock Springs build a 2-0 lead and a 4-1 advantage before Riverton scored three runs in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the frame, Riverton's Hannah Soll got on with a base hit and Martin on an error by Rock Springs. Bri Siebert had an RBI single, and Martin scored on an error for the victory. |
