Feb 16, 2012 - The Associated PressCOLORADOR SPRINGS -- Behind a career night from Ashley Sickles, the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team picked up a 71-58 road win against the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Wednesday night. The Cowgirls are now 10-13 overall and 6-4 in the Mountain West.
"I thought we took our level of play higher in the second half," head coach Joe Legerski said. "The two halves where so different in the first Air Force was the aggressor and we became the aggressor in the second. To have two players, with Ashley and Kayla, recording double-doubles showed how they controlled the second half. Ashley gave us a huge lift offensively and played 38 minutes. It was a tremendous effort."
Two Cowgirls finished their night with double-doubles led by Sickles. She finished with a career high 26 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 9-13 from the field and 6-6 from beyond the arc. Kayla Woodward followed with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Mileto added ten points and three rebounds. Wyoming shot 21-46 (.457) from the field, 7-14 (.500) from the free throw line and 22-27 (.815) from free throw line.
Wyoming also out rebounded the Falcons, 39-34, and recorded 15 assists.
Three Falcons finished the night in double-figures led by Dymond James. She recorded 13 points and ten rebounds. Alecia Leipprandt added 16 points followed by Jamela Satterfield with ten. Air Force shot 24-66 (.364) from the field and 9-15 (.600) from the free throw line.
Wyoming returns to home to host the Colorado State Rams Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.
