Stoll sits seventh through early stages of NHSFR competition

Pavillion's Teal Stoll is in seventh place in pole bending at the National High School Finals Rodeo at Rock Springs.

Stoll was clocked with a time of 20.628 Tuesday to put herself in the running for a national title.

Cheyenne Epps of Magnolia, Texas, is in the top spot in pole bending at 20.217. Pinedale's Amber Robinson stands 10th in a time of 20.78.

Riverton's Shelby Eckley is 21st overall in girls cutting after scoring 212 points in her first performance.

Coralee Spratt of Shoshoni finished third in the fifth performance on Tuesday night in goat tying in a time of 9.83. The time didn't place her in the top 25 overall. In the combined team standings, Wyoming is seventh overall with 1,215 points. Texas has the lead at 2,420 points. California is second at 1,590 points and Idaho is third at 1,555.

The NHSFR field is made up of the top cowboys and cowgirls from each state. The rodeo started on Sunday with one performance in Rock Springs, then had two separate rodeos Monday and two more on Tuesday. The first round finished Wednesday morning. The second round begins Wednesday night. All the cowboys and cowgirls will perform twice. The second performance ends on Saturday morning. The finals are slated for Saturday night. The finals are for the top 20 cowgirls and cowboys in each event.
