Jul 20, 2012 - StaffBetty Lou Montz, 80, of Riverton, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the Wind River Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall with John Poly officiating.
Betty Lou Damewood was born Jan. 2, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Bruce Damewood and Mae (Correll) Damewood.
She graduated from high school in Chicago.
She was of the Jehovah's Witnesses faith and was baptized Sept. 5, 1959. She was active in her church until her health started to decline.
On Nov. 1, 1951, she married Paul Townley Montz in College Springs, Iowa, and together they raised three sons. They lived in many places including Idaho, Texas, Missouri, Louisiana, Nebraska and Wyoming.
Mrs. Montz sold Avon products for many years and worked retail at GNC and Sears. She also managed apartments with her husband while they lived in Missouri.
Her family said she enjoyed painting and crocheting.
She is survived by her sons, John P. Montz of Rock Springs, George L. Montz and his wife Susan of Riverton and Bruce T. Montz and his wife Linden of Denver; a sister, Patricia Williams; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on Feb. 24, 2012; her parents; her stepfather, George Hogue; a sister; and her grandparents Tilden and Lydia Correll.
