Jul 22, 2012 - StaffThe Riverton Raiders American Legion baseball club needed to sweep the Lovell Mustangs to stay out of the cellar of the Class A Northwest Wyoming American Legion baseball conference. On Saturday, Riverton won the first game 10-3 but lost the second game 8-6. Friday, the Raiders dropped two at home against Douglas 13-3 and 16-3. Riverton will play a doubleheader Sunday in Sheridan and turn around and likely open against the Northeast champion Troopers again in district tournament play Wednesday in Powell.
UPDATE: According to wyopreps.com, Riverton has tied with Lovell for the last two seeds in the Northwest conference. Tiebreakers will be determined for seeding for the upcoming district tournament and Riverton could potentially open against the Casper Drillers or the Sheridan Troopers. The Ranger will have the district tournament schedules in its Tuesday edition.
UPDATE: After dropping two games to Sheridan Sunday (Sheridan Troopers 21 Riverton Raiders 0 and Sheridan Troopers 13 Riverton Raiders 0) Riverton will open against Sheridan at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in Powell in the first round of District Tournament play.
