Area drivers urged to use caution for triathlon

Jul 26, 2012 - Staff

Drivers along Riverview Road, Sunset Drive, Major Avenue and Cooper Road are urged to drive with caution Saturday morning as bikers and runners will be participating in the second annual Go Fremont County Triathlon.

Fremont County Sheriff's deputies and the Riverton Police Department will be providing extra patrol Saturday morning along the triathlon route.

According to race organizers, the event begins at 8 a.m. at the Riverton Aquatic Center and cyclists will be leaving the RHS parking lot as early as 8:10 a.m. after the 600-yard swim.

The bikers will progress behind Central Wyoming College to Hill Street and out on Riverview Road west. The complete bike course is 13 miles and will come back to RHS where runners will then head east towards Major Ave. and Cooper Road on their 5-kilometer run.

"We hope that area drivers will put safety first and work to keep the race routes safe for all competitors," organizer Lara Miller said.
