Jul 26, 2012 - StaffDean Alexander Dewey, 44, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father John Gaffney officiating. Interment will follow at Araphahoe Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27, at St. Stephens Catholic Church with a wake to follow at the family home, 393 Left Hand Ditch Road.
Dean was born March 26, 1968, in Riverton, the son of John C. and Theresa M. (Brown) Dewey.
In May 1986, he graduated from St. Stephens Indian School.
He married Tanya Hebah on April 2, 2008, and they made their home in Fort Washakie. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Dewey worked for Big West Oilfield Services.
Survivors include his children, Ashly Dean Dewey, Brindon White, Katie Vargus, Katlyn Hebah, Aspen Hebah and Leola Rose White; goddaughter, Amber Whiteplume; mothers Frances Dewey and Theresa M. Jones; sisters Delia Frances Dodge, Anna Whiteplume, Angela Dewey, Flora CrazyThunder, Susie Warren, Regina Dewey, Irene CrazyThunder, Sonja Birdshead, Suzette Seminole, Johnetta Seminole, Serena Gardner, Brenda Goodman, Arlene Goodman, Elizabeth Goodman, Leticia Black and Sonja Black Friday; brothers Jerry Dewey, David Dewey, B.J. Gardner, Marcus Garner, Lydell Whiteplume, Leon Birdshead, Jess Birdshead, Darrell Goodman, James Goodman, Burdick Seminole, Steven Seminole, Thomas Bushyhead, John M. Bushyhead Jr., Mike Jenkins, Stan Shakespear, Ricky Blackburn, Mitchell Stacey, Terry Spoonhunter, Martian Guetterrez and Stanford V. He was preceded in death by Andrew Raphael Dewey, Flora Goodman Dewey, John C. Dewey, Linus Dewey, Robert Dewey, George Dewey, Rose M. Dewey, Lucilla Dewey-Washington, JoAnn Birdshead, Chrystal C. Dewey, Allen Addison, Bobbette T. Birdshead, Edna Antelope, Donovan Blackburn, Joshua Dewey, Javen Talksdifferent and Alvin Talksdifferent Jr.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
