Jul 27, 2012 - StaffMary Jane Day, of Natchitoches, La., and formerly of Riverton, died July 5, 2012, at her home.
A visitation was 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La. A memorial service was at 11 a.m. in the chapel following the visitation.
Mrs. Day retired from Northwestern State University as a secretary for the dean of liberal arts.
Her family said she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, camping and spending time with her family, and she was well known for her afghans, which received several blue ribbons at parish fairs. She also volunteered for the Natchitoches Folk Festival.
She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Edwards and her husband Terry of Crosby, Texas, and Valerie Hausberger of Highlands, Texas; one son, Kyle Day and his wife Vera of Provencal, La.; nine grandchildren, Crystal Thomas and her husband John Charles Thomas III, Sara Edwards, Hollie Edwards, Sean Day, Heather Day, Jayme Day, Randy Cheek, Robin Cheek and Victoria Tovo; three great-grandchildren, John Charles Thomas IV, Alan Thomas and Ava Thomas; and one sister, Evelyn Smith of Reno, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Wostenberg and Clara Clark Wostenberg; husband Gary Dean Day; two sisters, Ilene Johnson and Maxine Black.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, La. Donations may be made to the Day Memorial Scholarship at Central Wyoming College. Online condolences may be given at www.blanchardstdenisfuneralhome.com.
