Hart named ad director for Ranger

James Hart is the new director of advertising for Riverton Ranger Inc. He began his new duties Monday, July 30.

Hart comes to Fremont County from Iowa, where he was the associate publisher and director of advertising for Inland Media's Mt. Pleasant News.

"Jim is an experienced and effective advertising professional, and we are glad to have him working with us," said Ranger publisher Steve Peck. "He has enjoyed a successful career in community newspapers, and we have high confidence that will continue here."

Before his Mt. Pleasant position, Hart spent three years as director of advertising and circulation at the Daily Union in Junction City, Kan., owned by Montgomery Communic-ations, and a tenure of similar length as retail advertising manager for the Alton Telegraph in Alton, Ill.

The Illinois native also has experience as an independent business consultant specializing in streamlined workflow and cost efficiency and as a telemarketing agent for the Chicago Sun Times. He earned an accounting degree in Illinois.

As a younger man he also was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association's Midwest Region, competing in regional and national PBA tournaments.

"I am enjoying getting acquainted with the community and the newspaper," Hart said. "We have a good team here, and I look forward to playing a part in the success of Fremont County's newspapers."

Hart and his wife, Jenni, have a 4-year-old son, Preston.

Riverton Ranger Inc. publishes the daily Ranger, weekly Lander Journal, weekly Wind River News and EXTRA!, and is affiliated as well with the ADvertiser, Dubois Frontier, Shoshoni Pioneer and Thermopolis Independent-Record.

The company also operates the local news website
