Aug 16, 2012 - StaffGerald Sage Sr., 73, of Ethete, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the family home, 436 Ethete Road, Ethete. Interment will follow at the Sage-Redman Cemetery. An evening service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, also at the family home with a wake to follow.
Gerald Sage Sr. was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Fort Washakie, the son of Joseph Sage and Hazel Trosper-Sage.
He attended school at St. Michael's Mission, graduated from Lander Valley High School and attended an electronic school in Oakland, Calif.
Gerald Sage Sr. was a traditional man of the Northern Arapaho Tribe.
His family said he loved conversing in Arapaho and spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Naomi Sage; four sisters, Becky Sage, Cindy Winn, Arydenne Sage and Joetta Armour; two brothers, Byron Sage and Bill Sage; two aunts, Verna Thunder and Caroline Goggles; his children, Gerald Sage Jr. and wife Annie Sage, Celeste Sage and husband David Jumbo, Renee Sage, Ira Whiteplume, Faron Sage and Pete Dumcombe and wife Rhonda; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and traditional grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
