Two hostages released during 'tense' standoff at Casper motel

CASPER -- Police in Casper say two hostages have been released in a standoff at a motel but other people may still be being held inside.

Police chief Chris Walsh said the situation Tuesday was tense.

Police aren't sure what started the standoff at the Super 8 Motel. Police were originally called to the motel because a number of people were going in and out of a room there.

Guests were told they were told to evacuate and two witnesses heard what sounded like gunshots.

Three schools in the area, open for the first day of school, have been put on lockdown.

Police have pushed back onlookers, saying they were "in the line of fire."
