Aug 29, 2012 - The Associated PressGILLETTE -- Nearly 2,000 people took advantage of a free tour of the Eagle Butte Mine in Campbell County this summer.
The tour is administered by the Campbell County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
People from as far away as Japan and Australia visited the mine owned by Alpha Natural Resources.
The tours ended for this season on Aug. 17 and will resume after Memorial Day next year.
The 1,938 who visited this summer was an increase of more than 300 from last summer.
