Sep 9, 2012 - StaffRobert H. "Bob" Beal, formerly of Lander, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
Robert Beal was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Wilmington, Del., to Oscar "Raymond" and Ann Beal.
The family moved to Colorado where he spent most of his childhood until moving to the Lander area in the 1960s.
He met and married Karen Tribby in 1969. They owned and operated the first RadioShack in Lander for more than 15 years.
Mr. Beal sold the store in 2003 and moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 2006.
His family said he enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Joseph of Littleton, Colo.; brother John "Jack" Beal of La Junta, Colo.; father-in-law John Tribby of Lander; sister-in-law Krista Guthridge and her husband David of Lander; niece Shannon and her husband Kaz Yamada of Monterey, Calif.; great-nephew Aidan of Monterey, Calif.; and friend Richard Atkinson of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen, in 1998.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Beal's name to Christian Family Care Agency, 6063 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bring's Broadway Chapel.
