Sheridan Inn, restaurant to close Oct. 1

Sep 9, 2012 The Associated Press

SHERIDAN -- The owners of the landmark Sheridan Inn say they are closing down the building and the restaurant it houses Oct. 1.

The nonprofit Sheridan Heritage Center says it can no longer afford to keep the building open.

The center wanted to convert the historic building back into a functioning hotel, but the plan ran into financial obstacles.

Construction of the hotel was completed in 1893, after a railroad reached the town the year before. It was once owned by William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody.
