First Lady Carol Mead, mayor to attend CDS grand opening
Sep 13, 2012 - From staff reports
Child Development Services of Fremont County will celebrate the grand opening of its new Riverton building, 1205 E. Lincoln Ave., during a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, Sept. 18. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with speakers including Riverton Mayor Ron Warpness, Wyoming Sen. Jim Anderson (R-Glenrock) and Wyoming First Lady Carol Mead. Afterward, community members are invited to tour the building while they enjoy light refreshments.
CDS provides early intervention special education services to Fremont County children ages birth to 5. For the past several years, CDS has been working to consolidate its Riverton operations to one campus near its largest building at 1202 E. Jackson Ave.
The agency purchased land at the corner of East Lincoln Avenue and North 12th St. E. several years ago. After tearing down the old Christian Food Storehouse that once stood on the property, CDS built its new $1.1 million structure using agency funds as well as a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant.
