After going 2-1 on Friday, the first day of the Casper Invitational volleyball tournament, the Riverton Lady Wolverines qualified for the gold tournament bracket.

Riverton played two more matches Saturday at the Casper Events Center against two Cheyenne schools, East and Central.

The Lady Wolverines joined Casper Kelly Walsh as the only two Class 4-A West schools to advance to gold bracket play. Other teams in the gold bracket were Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Laramie and Sheridan, all Class 4-A East schools, and Douglas and Cody, both Class

3-A schools.

In bracket play Friday, Riverton beat Cody in two games (25-22, 25-18), lost to Gillette in three tight games (24-26, 29-27, 15-11) and topped Wheatland in three games (25-21, 22-25, 15-10) to advance to Saturday's bracket play.

According to McNamee, Bree Olson played some of her best volleyball of the season during Friday's matches.

Saturday, Riverton dropped their first match to Cheyenne East (25-11, 25-15) but bounced back to defeat Cheyenne Central (25-22, 25-12), a

team that Riverton lost to in five games in Casper on Thursday.

"We played with no emotion or sense of urgency against East and we weren't awake. We had 11 hitting errors in the first game and 14 hitting errors in the second game. You won't win many games with that type of ration," McNamee said.

It was a long three-day road trip for Riverton, but the Lady Wolverines now are looking at two home matches. The first is this Thursday against Casper Natrona.

The Lady Wolverines will have their senior day on Saturday, Sept. 29, when they host Evanston. Both varsity matches are at Wolverine Gym.
