Rock Springs shuts out Riverton seventh-gradersSep 28, 2012 Staff
Riverton's Isaiah Monroe turned to pitch the ball to Shawn Curtain on a "hook and lateral" play against Rock Springs on Thursday afternoon. Rock Springs arrived 45 minutes late but made the best of it in a 28-0 shutout of the Riverton seventh grade at Wolverine Field. Power runs of 19 and 28 yards gave the visitors from Sweetwater County a 14-0 lead at the half. Riverton had a glimmer of hope as the opening half drew to a close when Jaren Draper hit Isaiah Monroe on a hook pattern and Monroe lateraled the ball back to Shawn Curtain. The play nearly broke Curtain for a touchdown, but the Jaguars made the tackle just before the half ended. Riverton plays Lander next Thursday.
