Sep 30, 2012 - From staff reportsThe Lander Care & Share Food Bank has scheduled their Empty Bowls "Soup 'n More" fundrasier for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6. The event is sponsored by the National Outdoor Leadership School and will be held at the Noble Hotel, 288 Main St.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group. The basic premise is simple: Potters and craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for the ticket price, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.
In Lander, the bowls were created by the Potters Of The Wind River group.
Members are: Deborah Britt, Carolyn Orr, Majelle Lee, Brian Stanford, Ken Rieman, Jenn Wellman, Donna Yost, Shawna Pickinpaugh, Cristin Zimmer and Pam Spencer-Hockett. The Lander Valley High School Art Club also donated bowls.
Soups will be prepared by: Asian Cuisine, Breadboard, China Garden, Cowfish, Food Bank Kitchen, Gannet Grill & Lander Bar, Hitching Rack, Mr. D's, Perrett's, Thai Chef and Tony's.
Tickets are $30 per person, and can be purchased 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lander Share and Care Food Bank, 281 Garfield.
