DUBOIS -- It was picturesque fall afternoon in Dubois, as the Rams walloped the Ten Sleep Pioneers 60-6 against the backdrop of autumn colorsR00;to remain unbeaten in Class 1-A 6-man football.
The win lifts theR00;Rams to 5-0 on the season, the only unbeaten team in the division.
After an initial three and out by both teams on their opening drives. The Rams scored on every subsequentR00; possession in the opening period, with touchdowns coming on their three offensive possessions and both of Ten Sleep's.
Kyle Tea opened a 32-point flurry in just over four minutes that saw the Rams rack up five first period touchdowns on a 19-yard pass from Rowan Hawk.R00; Sterling Baker tallied a 21-yard run just 54 seconds later, and Tea scored another touchdown a scant 34 seconds after that.
Points can come quickly in six-man football and the Rams didn't bother to take the offensive side of the ball on their next two scores.
Baker didn't give the Pioneers much of a chance offensively as he kicked the ball out of the back of the end zone following each of the Rams' scores.
John Bartlett picked off a Pioneer pass with 2:38 left in the first and racedR00;untouched 33 yards for the score. Tea repeated the feat, this time from 31 yards and the Rams held an improbable 32-0 lead after just 10 minutes of play In the second it was Baker's turn to run, and the junior gained nearly 100 yards on two scoring plays. The first came on a 52-yard run, the second from 47.
R00;Rowan Hawk's point-after conversion kick lifted the score to 46-0 with 5:13 remaining in the first half and the "mercy rule" kicked in just 15 minutes after the opening kickoff. The remainder of the game went very quickly with the clock stopped only on scoring plays and timeouts.
Jesse Hawk broke two tackles and outran the entire Pioneer defenseR00;on the Rams' first possession of the second half with a 54-yard scamper.
Ten Sleep putR00;together its best drive of the game on a mix of passes and toss sweeps, with Friscoe Erdahl tallying the Pioneer's only score on a fourth-and-goal from the five with 5:15 left in the third.
Dubois Head Coach David Trembly began substituting heavily, and the Ram junior varsity scored the final touchdown of the game when Rowan Hawk broke away on a 61-yard run with 8:52 left In the game.
