Oct 3, 2012 - The Associated PressCASPER -- A federal judge has denied a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit filed by a Wyoming grassroots group challenging Federal Election Commission rules.
Three Wyoming residents who formed the group called Free Speech filed the lawsuit this summer. They contend that FEC rules on grassroots political groups are vague and overly broad.
Stephen Klein is an attorney with Wyoming Liberty Group, which is representing Free Speech. Klein says the issue centers on whether Free Speech must register as a political action committee.
Klein says U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl denied the group's request for a nationwide preliminary injunction on Wednesday.
He says the group will continue to pursue the lawsuit.
