Carrie J. McDowell, 51, of rural Riverton, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Morning Star Manor at Fort Washakie.

Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Carrie Jo McDowell was born April 10, 1960, in Riverton, the daughter of Gordon E. and Marceline S. (Whitehead) McDowell. She attended Riverton schools.

Ms. McDowell was a horse trainer who was injured in an auto accident in November 1979.

She was of the Methodist faith, belonged to 4-H as a child, and her family said she enjoyed horses and horse racing.

Survivors include her sister, Leslie McDowell Phillips; niece Megan Phillips and her children Lilly and Summer; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dennis McDowell; her grandparents and a cousin, Amy Griffin.

Memorials may be made to the Riverton Animal Shelter/PAWS, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main St., Riverton, WY 82501.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home (www.theDavisFuneralHome.com) of Riverton.
