Oct 7, 2012 - The Associated PressCHEYENNE -- The new $13 million Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center along Interstate 25 is holding an open house Oct. 12.
State tourism director Diane Shober says tourism is a vital industry in Wyoming.
She says the welcome center at the new High Plains Road exit near the Colorado border can direct visitors to spots they otherwise might have missed.
The previous welcome center was on the west side of I-25 instead of the east in a spot that was difficult for people to reach after they entered the state. The new welcome center also houses the Wyoming Office of Tourism.
