Riverton nurse consultant helps attorneys
Oct 11, 2012 - From staff reports
Rosebud Legal Nurse Consulting has launched an independent legal nurse consulting practice to help attorneys win medical-related cases. Founded by local nurse Rosie Hughes, MSN, RN, CLNC, Rosebud Legal Nurse Consulting provides services designed to save attorneys time and money.
"We're starting to get busy," Hughes said. "We've already got a couple of cases under our belt."
She said many attorneys initially request help organizing and interpreting the "huge quantity" of medical records often involved in medical-related cases.
"A certified legal nurse consultant can do this more cost effectively than an MD," Hughes said.
She added that her company also screens cases for merit, locates expert witnesses and assists attorneys with discovery and trial preparation.
"I have over 25 years of varied nursing experiences which have given me an understanding of the health care system that many attorneys find beneficial," Hughes said. "This inside knowledge, combined with my CLNC training, allows me to tailor my services to many types of cases, from personal injury to medical malpractice to criminal cases or any case that affect health, illness or injury."
Hughes also has access to a nationwide network of health care colleagues who can provide additional expertise often needed in complex medical litigation.
Hughes has an office located in Riverton, and she works with attorneys throughout Wyoming. Hughes received her CLNC certification from Vickie Milazzo Institute, the nation's oldest and largest legal nurse consulting education company. Widely recognized by attorneys, the CLNC certification is the official certification of the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants.
