CWC men's basketball coach placed on leave

Oct 11, 2012 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports Editor

Central Wyoming College athletic director Serol Stauffenberg said he has placed CWC men's basketball coach Curtis Condie on leave from his team until Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Condie was placed on leave as of Wednesday morning.

Condie was hired in June 2011. He guided the Rustlers to a 20-11 record last season.

"We can't discuss personal issues in a public forum," Stauffenberg said.

"It's something that we handle privately in the human resource system. I respect that system. We will move forward from there."

Stauffenberg said men's basketball assistant coach Shelby Lindley will be in charge of the men's program in Condie's absence.

Stauffenberg is also the head CWC women's basketball coach.

"I will help in the men's basketball day-to-day operations," Stauffenberg said.

"In that part, we are in sound shape."

Lindley came to CWC this year after being an assistant coach at Idaho State.

The Rustlers started official practice Oct. 1. CWC will play in its first scrimmage Saturday in Salt Lake City.

"Coach Condie did a wonderful job in hiring Shelby," Stauffenberg said.

"I'm very confident that Shelby will do everything needed to get us through until next Tuesday."

CWC opens the season Nov. 1 against Impact Academy at Rustler Gym.
