Marcia Quale Haworth

Marcia Quale Haworth, of Riverton, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at her home in Riverton. She was 78 years old.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A reception will follow at noon at the St. James Episcopal Church Social Hall.

Marcia Quale was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Rochester, Minn., to David George and Clare Louise (Gatchell) Quale. Her parents were both pharmacists and moved the family back to Mrs. Quale's hometown of Buffalo to work in Gatchell's Drug Store with Mrs. Quale's father, Jim Gatchell.

Mrs. Haworth had extensive Wyoming family history as she was a descendant of the Sacketts from Big Horn, and the Gatchells from Sheridan and Buffalo. She attended school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School in 1952. She attended the University of Wyoming from 1952 to 1953 and attended one year at St. Mary's School in Rochester, Minn.

In 1953 she met Henry Huntsman Haworth Jr., a surveyor at that time, and on Feb. 7, 1954, they were married in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Buffalo. The couple lived in Greeley, Colo., from 1954 to 1956, Billings, Mont., from 1956 to 1970, Thermopolis from 1970 to 1990, and Riverton after 1990. The couple worked together in Mr. Haworth's offices as he was a hearing specialist, owning Wyoming Hearing Aid Service in Thermopolis and Riverton.

Mrs. Haworth was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was active with the Altar Guild and Pastoral Care. She also was a member of the Sahida Temple No. 86 Daughters of the Nile -- Allah Club No. 12 Riverton, Riverton Garden Club and the Wednesday Morning Coffee Club.

Her family said she loved gardening, cooking, working at the church, going to the mountains and visiting and having coffee with her friends and family.

She is survived by three sons, David Huntsman Haworth and his wife Maggie, Paul Sackett Haworth and his wife Christina and Frederick "Rick" Quale Haworth and his wife Marie; two daughters Anne Haworth Root and her husband Tim and Jane Haworth Juve; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Clare Quale; her husband, Henry Huntsman Haworth; and sister Cynthia Bratton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Mrs. Haworth's name to St. James Episcopal Church 519 E. Park Ave., Riverton, WY 82501, the Kalif Shrine, Shriner's Children's Hospital Travel Fund, P.O.
