Oct 13, 2012 - By Randy Tucker, Sports WriterFor the second consecutive week the Rams shut out an opponent while rolling up more than 50 points themselves. Perhaps the hardest thing about Saturday's game at Hulett was the 800-mile round-trip from the High Country to Devil's Tower to dominate the Red Devils. Dubois rolled over Hulett 52-0 to remain unbeaten on the season. A single game remains against Guernsey-Sunrise next weekend.
Dubois started slowly with just 14 points in the opening period on big plays by junior Sterling Baker and senior Jesse Hawk. Baker scored first on a 45-yard run then added the point after kick. Hawk picked up a fumble and raced the length of the field on an 80-yard return for the second score.
The visitor's side of the Red Devils' scoreboard lit up like a pinball machine in the second with the Rams tallying 26 unanswered points. Baker crashed in on a four-yard plunge followed by 28- and 20-yard runs respectively by Hawk. Baker rounded out the opening half scoring on another 28-yard run and Dubois led 40-0 at intermission.
Running clock has become common for Dubois opponents this season, and the mercy rule came into effect with 6:11 left in the third quarter when Hawk broke open on a 34-yard scamper to lift the score to 46-0.
With the clock running constantly -- aside from time-outs, change of possessions and scores -- the fourth quarter was very quick. Hawk scored his fifth and final touchdown early in the final period on a five-yard run, and Dubois reserves played out the remainder of the game.
Dubois scored 112 points over the last two games and shut out both opponents in the process. The Rams will host the two opening rounds of the playoffs and are a favorite to return to Laramie for the state championship game in early November.
