Oct 16, 2012 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff WriterThe Riverton Police Department is investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby Sunday morning in Riverton.
Officers said they responded to a medical assist call at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Spruce Street. Upon their arrival, police said they observed that the boy was not breathing. They tried to resuscitate him for about 20 minutes until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.
Officials have not disclosed the baby's name, but the Davis Funeral Home released a notice Tuesday regarding the death of Leviticus Esau Lloyd Whiteman, the infant son of Shaw Esau Whiteman and Crystal Lynn Dresser.
According to the notice, the baby died Sunday at his home in Riverton.
RPD Capt. Eric Murphy said every infant death warrants an investigation, though he added that the circumstances surrounding Sunday's incident were not immediately suspicious.
He would not answer questions about the condition of the child's body, which was autopsied over the weekend in Loveland, Colo.
Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan was not available for comment Tuesday.
