Oct 16, 2012 - The Associated PressLARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has voted not to identify any candidates seeking to become the next president of the college.
The decision made last Friday means that the public will not know who is being considered until the board votes to hire a replacement for the retiring Tom Buchanan.
A news release from the university says the secret hiring process doesn't violate the Wyoming Open Meetings Act.
In addition, it said three search firms advised the board that a confidential process presents the greatest opportunity for UW to attract the deepest pool of candidates.
The board also approved forming two screening committees to review candidates, hiring a private firm to recruit candidates and setting a timetable that would have a new president introduced by Feb. 27.
