Mildred 'Milly' Brewer

Mildred "Milly" Brewer, of Riverton, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, after a 12-year battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Davis Funeral Home with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery.

Mildred Pauline Bailey was born Feb. 17, 1933, near the family home near Newport, Wash., to Paul Wesley Bailey and Irene (Bade) Bailey. She spent her childhood on the Coyote Trail Ranch near Newport and graduated high school in Newport.

She met James Warren Brewer while he was in the Army, and they married Dec. 26, 1952, in Newport, Wash.

They moved to Camp Carson (Fort Carson) in Colorado Springs, Colo., where her husband was stationed. After he was discharged they moved to Spokane, Wash., where he attended diesel school. Over the next few years they moved around a lot and finally settled in Jeffrey City where they lived for 30 years and raised their four children. Sixteen years ago they moved to Riverton.

Mrs. Brewer was active in 4-H, was a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, and was on the community council (Chamber of Commerce) for Jeffrey City.

Her family said she had many hobbies in her lifetime including gardening, quilting, sewing, being outside, fishing, hunting, camping and participating in the Good Sam Club "Meadowlark."

She is survived by her husband, James; sons Stan, Alan and Gary; daughter Deann (Kip) Helming; five grandchildren, Montgomery (Sierra) Royce, Aurora, Nickolas and Jessica; two brothers, Wesley (Ardella) and Eugene (Billie); and two sisters, Lila (Charles) and Edith (Clifford).
