Oct 19, 2012 - From staff reports

Rock Springs knocked Riverton High School into the consolation bracket Friday in the opening round of the Class 4-A West volleyball tournament in Rock Springs.

The home-standing Tigers defeated the Wolverines 25-16, 19-25, 25-14, 26-24.

Rock Springs is the No. 6 seed for the double-elimination tournament, while RHS is No. 3.

Riverton played either Green River or Casper Natrona on Friday afternoon to stay alive in the tournament.

A state tournament bid was still possible for Riverton. The Wolverines will need to win two matches in the afternoon to advance to the state tournament.

The tournament ends Saturday with the third-place match and the championship match.
