Oct 21, 2012 - StaffRiverton High School came up one win short of making the Class 4-A state volleyball tournament after Rock Springs beat the Wolverines twice Friday in Rock Springs.
RHS entered the regional bracket as the No. 3 seed, and Rock Springs was the No. 6 seed.
The host Tigers won a 25-16, 19-25 25-14, 26-24, victory over RHS in the opening round to begin the double-elimination bracket.
The Wolverines outlasted Green River, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13, to set up a rematch with Rock Springs in a must-win match.
Rock Springs eliminated the Wolverines 25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22 in the final match of the evening.
The seniors for the Wolverines were Kristen Bailey, Miranda Hosking, Kylee Trees, Amy Woodward, Ashley Lynott, Bree Olson and Baylee Stafford.
Rock, Springs, Casper Natrona, Kelly Walsh and Evanston will represent the Class 4-A West conference at the state tournament in Casper.
