Oct 28, 2012 - From staff reportsThe Lander library presents Shakespeare's "Timon of Athens," the third play of the 2012-13 season's broadcasts from the National Theater in London.
The broadcast is at 1 p.m. Saturday in the library. Donations of $10 for adults and $5 for students will be accepted at the door.
This production hurls the 17th century Shakespeare story into the 21st century where it lands squarely in the center of the financial and banking debacle of the last few years.
It is a tale of mankind in the thrall to Mammon and it seems freshly minted for the credit crunch generation.
The London reviews have praised the production as a modern critique of society, incorporating the failings of Wall Street bankers on the one hand and "Occupy Wall Streeters" on the other.
These events are possible in part through a Wyoming Arts Council grant.
