Riverton High School sophomore swimmer Jordan Settlemire led Wolverine swimmers at the state high school swim meet Thursday and Friday in Gillette.
Settlemire, who had qualified in all eight individual swimming events during the season, stroked to a fifth-place finals finish in the 100-yard butterfly with 1:03.63, just .4 seconds out of second place. Settlemire also swam in the consolation finals in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.37, good enough for ninth place overall.
According to RHS head girls swimming coach Chad Fallin, Settlemire improved from her preliminary seeds in both events, qualifying for the finals in the 100-yard butterfly in sixth place and for the consolation finals in the 200-yard IM in 11th place.
"Jordan swam personal best times," Fallin said.
No other Wolverine swimmer advanced to the finals or consolation finals.
Senior Karissa Kister competed in the 50-yard freestyle and finished 20th with a time of 27.79 and also finished 21st in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.27.
Freshman Michaela Kechter finished 20th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:22.04.
The Wolverines competed in the relays at the state meet.
The 200-yard medley relay of Stephanie Joy, Kechter, Settlemire and Karissa Kister finished 10th with a time of 2:11.79, and the 200-yard freestyle team with Karissa Kister, Taylor Hill, Kechter and Settlemire finished 11th with a time of 1:52.21.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Hill, Kassi Kister, Elena Holguin and Kelsey Bastian placed 11th with a time of 4:24.11
The Class 4-A meet had all twelve 4-A schools competing and was won by Cheyenne East with 266 points.
