Nov 4, 2012 - StaffAnti-bullying advocate Jamie Nabozny will speak 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Riverton Branch Library, 1330 W. Park Ave.
For four years, Nabozny was subjected to relentless anti-gay verbal and physical abuse by fellow students at his public high school in Ashland, Wis.
He attempted suicide several times, dropped out of school, and ultimately ran away.
With the help of Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Nabozny won a landmark lawsuit in a federal appeals court that said a public school could be held accountable for not stopping bullying.
The Southern Poverty Law Center produced a documentary titled "Bullied" that chronicles Nabozny's life.
