Nov 4, 2012 - Roger and Barbara Gose, RivertonEditor:
The following is offered as support for Sherry Shelley in her candidacy for the House District 55 seat in the Wyoming Legislature.
There could be no better voice for Fremont County. Sherry Shelly comes with no hidden agenda, no special interest group backing.
She knows that defeating an entrenched incumbent of many years is a daunting task. But she has accepted the challenge. She has walked the talk (literally) in her district, knocking on virtually every door to inform the voting public of her views on all the key issues, which are well chronicled in her campaign literature.
Issues come and go, but there are more fundamental character traits that distinguish Sherry which we believe make her the best choice for your vote on Nov. 6.
Many reading this may have seen the recent Wyoming PBS documentary on the life of Sen. Alan Simpson, "Nothing Else Matters." Senator Simpson was quoted as saying "If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity, nothing else matters."
Sherry has integrity, which has many synonyms -- honesty, truthfulness, moral soundness, steadfastness of purpose, trust.
In this era of gridlock at the national congressional level nearly bringing our nation to its knees, the ability to reach across the aisle, to compromise, is so important not only at the national level but the state level as well. While Sherry is well-grounded in the principles of her party, she has the capacity and the will to reach across the aisle for the common good.
Sherry is intelligent, unbiased in her views, and, most importantly, willing to listen to all sides of an issue to make the most informed decision.
In closing, she understands that before we are Democrats, Republicans, or Independents, e are Americans, and that the opponent is not the enemy, and that extremism, either to the left or right, should be discouraged in the interest of productive government.
We encourage you to vote for Sherry Shelley to represent Wyoming House Distirct 55.
