Winters elected in HD 28
Nathan Winters of Thermopolis will be the new state representative for House District 28.
The re-drawn district covers parts of three counties including the Shoshoni and Lysite areas of Fremont County.
Eighty percent of residents in those areas voted for Winters, who saw a total of 278 votes from his Fremont County constituents.
Democratic candidate Connie Skates earned 65 votes.
Current HD 28 representative Lorraine Quarberg, R-Thermopolis, chose not to run this year.
Children's theater to visit Lander
The Missoula Children's Theatre is coming to Lander. More than 60 local K-8 students will perform "Blackbeard the Pirate" at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Lander Valley High School.
Tickets are $3 for children, $5 for adults or $10 for a family and will be available at the door.
Auditions will be 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. Among the roles to be cast are Blackbeard and his crew of bearded pirates, sailors of the high seas, cranky crabs and crocodiles, magical mermaids and seaweed creatures, parrots and even a group of beach bums.
Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities. All Lander students in grades K-8 are encouraged to audition.
The Missoula Children's Theatre residency in Lander is brought to Lander by Promoting Arts in Lander Schools with support from the Wyoming Community Foundation, the Lander District Recreation Board, the Lander Community Concerts Association, the Wyoming Arts Council, Fremont County School District 1, the Lander Community Foundation, K-3 PIE, Gannett Peak Elementary PIE, individual contributions and ticket sales.
