Two Dubois spikers all-stateNov 14, 2012 By Bruce Tippets, Sports Editor
Seniors Rachelle Leseberg and Katherine Finley earned the postseason honor for the Rams.
Katherine Finley and Rachelle Leseberg were instrumental in helping Dubois pile up a 20-13-1 volleyball record, and both have gained a spot on the Class 1-A all-state team.
The two seniors helped put the Rams into the state volleyball tournament last month at the Casper Events Center.
Dubois went 1-2 at state with the victory coming over Burlington in consolation play.
"It's probably one of the best seasons that Dubois has ever had," Dubois coach Tina Baker said. "The girls played well and got along.
We just had a great season.
I think that we peaked at the state tournament, which was a really fun thing to do."
Dubois beat Burlington three out of four times this season. One of those wins came during conference play on Burlington's home court..
"The win at Burlington was a huge highlight for us," Baker said. "We just had a higher skill level for once against Burlington. They only had one returning starter on the floor. We had more experience."
"I would match Katherine and Rachelle with any 1-A players in the state and probably any 2-A players as well," Baker said. "They are just very skilled players and great players as well."
The seniors played in the front row and the back row for DHS.
"They both jump extremely well," Baker said.
"They have dedicated a lot of time to volleyball. They have that love for the game. More than anything they have the ability to help those around them and support them.
Leseberg was named the Class 1-A Northwest Player of the Year.
"I'm very proud of Rachelle getting the award," Baker said.
"She is very proud of that and deserving."
Finley and Leseberg both started basketball practice Monday with the rest of the DHS girls.
"Katherine didn't play basketball last year, but I think that this will be a really good season for them," Baker said.
The Rams have 11 basketball players out for the season.
Dubois only had five girls out last year. The first games for the Lady Rams will be later on this month.
