Nov 16, 2012 - StaffJohn W. Lye, of Riverton, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Brookfield, Wis. He was 88 years old.
He will be buried in a private service at the Wyoming Veterans Cemetery near Casper.
John Lye was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., and moved to Riverton at the age of 13.
He graduated from Riverton High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
A lifelong farmer, he was also a member of the Grange, VFW Post 3628 and was a proud volunteer for the Morton-Kinnear Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his son, Dennis Lye and his wife Pat; daughter Denise Leather and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Adam Lye and his wife Leah, Bethany Miga and her husband Tony, Erin Lye, Benjamin Lye, John Lye, Therese Dickson and her husband Michael, Breanna Leather and Trevor Leather; and great-grandchildren Samuel, Sylvia, Jett and Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Lye.
