MOOSE -- Hunters shot and killed a grizzly bear in Grand Teton National Park.

The park says that members of an elk hunting party opened fire on the adult male animal Thursday when it reportedly charged them.

None of the three hunters was hurt.

The grizzly bear is protected under federal law, and the park says officers are conducting an investigation into the killing.

The shooting occurred along the east side of the Snake River near Teton Point Overlook.
