District 25 audit 'the best you can get'
Dec 7, 2012 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff Writer
A local accounting firm had no findings to report after completing this year's audit of Fremont County School District 25.
Accountant Dave Brinda from McKee, Marburger & Fagnant, P.C., a Lander-based tax, accounting and business consulting firm, presented the audit for the 2011-12 fiscal year on Nov. 27, when the District 25 Board of Trustees voted to approve the annual report.
"These financial statements are materially correct, which is the best you can get," Brinda began, complimenting district business manager Mike Collins and staff for their work. "They do a great job keeping things in order."
When checking the district's internal controls and compliance with state and federal laws regarding grant funding, Brinda said his firm found nothing out of order.
"We had no internal control findings we feel we need to report to you, and we didn't have any noncompliance we felt needed to be reported," Brinda said.
As part of the audit he was required to pick several federally funded programs to examine more extensively each year.
Again, Brinda said he found no compliance or internal control findings to report.
"You have a great staff," he said. "They know what they're doing."
Board members said they were happy to hear that Collins and his staff are doing a "transparent" job.
They also commended Superintendent Terry Snyder for his management.
