Boy Scout seeks gift donations as part of Eagle Scout project

Dec 9, 2012 - By Alejandra Silva, Staff Writer

As part of his Eagle Scout project with Boy Scout Troop 276, Kyle Phister, 14, of Riverton, is asking local residents to shop for others this holiday season.

Kyle Phister and his mother, Amy Phister, have placed about 200 ornaments on seven Christmas trees located at Atlantic City Federal Credit Union, Bank of the West, Gale's Carpet One, Profiles Hair Design, Wyoming National Bank, Central Wyoming College, First Interstate Bank and Fremont Therapy Group.

On each ornament he has written the gender and age of an adult or child in need. Anyone who would like to donate a gift can choose an ornament and shop for the person listed. People also can give cash or donate gift wrapping materials.

Owner Patty Nelson of Profiles Hair Design said the ornaments on her tree were gone in less than 24 hours.

"There was a huge response," she said.

Amy said the names of those in need were gathered from several church congregations and CWC. She said a requirement for the Eagle Scout Project was that it had to benefit the community in some way.

By Dec. 18 the gifts will be collected from all locations. Amy and Kyle said they are thankful for the generosity and help the community has given.

"All kids should get presents on Christmas," Kyle said.
