Dec 9, 2012 - From staff reportsPreparations for the 2013 Wyoming State Winter Fair are in full swing, and several new events have been added.
The beef show and miniature bull competition will be Feb. 23 and the big horse show will be Feb. 24. All three events are in the Lander Old Timer's Rodeo Association indoor arena.
The beef show is being held instead of the livestock show, with all the same classes, age groups, etc. Organizers say the new show will give more young people a chance to gain experience for bigger shows. Lack of participation in the livestock show prompted the change, but if enough interest is shown, the livestock show may make a return in 2014. For more information about the beef show, call 332-2437.
The trade show is scheduled to be in the Bob Carey Memorial Field House on Feb. 28, March 2 and March 3. The dog show will be March 9 in Riverton.
A new saddle bronc competition may also take place, and details on that event will follow at a later date.
Vendor applications for the trade show will be sent out the first week of January to all participants from the previous year. To get an application, call 332-4011. Early registers are eligible for a 10 percent discount on vendor spaces.
